3 Day Tour – Prologue

I raced the prologue with the plan of “go hammer and tongs from the start”.  Due to that, I felt stuffed after the first 30 secs.  I got into the swing of things shortly after that and was powering along quite nicely.  This is the first time I’ve felt in the zone for some time when it comes to time trialling.

I tried to push it up the inclines and managed to do so, with increasing effort over the crests.  I powered past my “I was only pacing you” bunny, Thommo on one of the last hills like he was standing still.  I finished strongly as my rear tyre began to deflate. Continue reading

3 Day Tour Wrap Up

Shesh.  Another year and still no podium.  This time I finished 5th.  Pleasingly, I accrued some KOM points, so my TT focused training of the last month (which built up my power and anaerobic endurance) and weight loss appear to have helped there. Let’s see if I can improve power and keep decreasing weight. Continue reading

3 Day Tour – Stage 3

Migraine, feeling like I wanted to throw up and heavy thighs for the start of this race.

I was hoping to get another break going, but after the ITT, my thighs were a bit heavy.  Same deal as Stage 1 – I was on the front driving the pace for most of the race.  For the first sprint, I gave it a bash, but did not have the legs. I took out 3rd place in the KOM and drove the pace down the hill.  After we turned out of Sthurs Road, Jayman Prestidge took off.  I decided not to chase as all the tail sucks could do that if they wanted to.
