I headed into the tour hoping for a top 10. This year we began with 52 listed starters, down from last year’s 60. This did not reduce the quality of the racing.
This year I stayed at the Nicholson River Holiday Park in a cabin. The weather meant there was copious use of the heater.
On registration night I bought dinner from the Metung Village Store. When collecting my numbers, I checked the bag to make sure the numbers were all present and they were the correct ones. They were. No last minute panics or worrying about missing numbers overnight this time. Continue reading

Top 20 as there’s always unknown riders who appear from nowhere and ride far better than everyone else. Hopefully top 10 again. That will be highly dependent on time trial place and whether or not I get dropped on the climbs. The provisional start list had 47 of us. Last year there were 61. The start list released on Wednesday had 52 of us and I get to go off second last in the ITT. On paper, 7th place. Continue reading
